Yes,there are chances like for any other device. It is safer to have a screen protector.
keep in mind that the Z3's screen its not scratch proof, its harder to scratched compared to old Xperias but still you can scratch it. If you don't like the feeling of plastic from protective film, you could get a tempered glass screen protector.
