Hi all, in a bit of a puzzle.
I have the new Xperia XZ and a Bravia KDL-55W900A.
I have plugged an hdmi 2.0 cable into the tv MHL port and attached an hdmi to usb-c dongle to the other end. I plugged my phone into the usb-c port but it isn't showing any picture on the TV at all. What am I missing here? Please help

Hi,
Glad to hear that you got a Xperia XZ
I'm afraid Xperia XZ does not support MHL or HDMI so this type of connection is not possible.
While the phone doesn't support MHL it's still possible to stream for example films from the phone to your TV. This is possible to do wirelessly using a Chromecast, Miracast (Screen Mirroring) or DLNA.
I only work with mobile products but i do believe your TV supports Miracast/Screen Mirroring. If your TV does not support Miracast or DLNA, the easiest solution is probably to get a Google Chromecast that you connect to your TV but it requires that you also have WiFi at home. The preinstalled Album app supports Chromecast and will display the cast icon when you have a Chromecast in the network.

Thanks so much for the reply. It seems odd that sony's new flagship doesn't have this feature but hey, what to do. It's good to know that a chromecast will be able to work with it.
Thanks again.
holodecker.
I searched a bit more for the TV you have and in the manual, it describes Screen Mirroring and how to use it: https://community.sony.com/sony/attachments/sony/manuals/95/8/KDL55W900A_imanual_EN.pdf
To mirror the phones screen to a Chromecast or TV with Miracast, go to Settings -> Device connection in the phone and select either "Cast" for Chromecast or "Screen mirroring" for Miracast.
What i have seen before is that you may need to update the firmware in the TV to the latest version if you haven't already to support later versions of Android.
55w900A was the Bravia Quartz design and the first series to have miracast feature.
For easy pairing with Xperia, the TV includes a special remote with an NFC tag at the back of it ;). So you can one-touch mirror your screen
Doesn't support MHL, and Miracast only with Wi-Fi turned off. Are you kidding me? Even old low end Sonys can do it!
