So I remember reading this thread /t5/Xperia-1/question-about-screen-resolution/td-p/1367867#gref that xperia 1 will be 4K all the time? Can we get confirmation that it is?
Thanks,
If you can't tell, does it matter? 😉
Cpu-z shows it is running at 1096x2560 resolution. Maybe they checked and it was draining battery too much?
Event though I would like to have option to swoich resolution like other brands have. In 4k they could add pop up message that battery may be affected at this resolution and that's it.
The most important is to have the option but we have to accept the consequences.
No, the screen runs at a default 1080p. https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyXperia/comments/bxb4z3/xperia_1_is_in_1080p_by_default/
You can also check that by doing adb shell, and running wm size to see the default screen resolution.
Only displays at 4K resolution when needed, like the xz premium and z5 premium.
So what's the PPI in the menus and most apps?

I wonder why sony sony never shared this information publicly? This is a good news.
When most of people thought it is only 1080p in 90% of time in fact it is 1080p+.
Still I hope they will finally allow us to select the default resolution per our preference. And hope that it will not takes years again like it was with ois (typical to sony - turtle speed).
