Movies are stuttering

Movies transferred from my Galaxy S8 stutter on this phone very badly unless I use VLC player. The supplied video software that comes with this phone seems really weak and feature films are unwatchable. VLC makes them run as smooth as silk. I really don't know what Sony was doing when they released this phone with this software.

Give more details of movies such as media info.

Eg MP3, h264, h265, HDR, Resolution etc. They maybe out of standard spec.

Have you tried Kodi ?

No need for Kodi since VLC works. Just making an observation. Solution not necessary but thanks anyway.

I'm guessing it's a 4k mkv file that's stuttering?

They are MKV files. Did a little research and saw it's an Android problem in general.
