Xperia 1 Compact

Hello

Why is there no compact flagship among new phones?

I look forward to flagship phone with screen of 5-5.5 inches

Hope, I'm not alone?

I both agree and disagree.

I'm really hoping for a compact version, but at the same time I think the 21:9 aspect ratio will make it too long for putting it in the pocket of my jeans.

They should just update the xz1 compact. It had a perfect fingerprint sensor at the perfect place and it had a headphone jack. The headphone jack was probably removed because Sony wants to push their wireless headphones so sadly I don't see that coming back. A powerful processor and smaller bezels would make it the perfect compact phone. And of course waterproof.

They ruined all of these things with the xz2 compact.

Unknow Sony device with 5.1" 21:9 screen has showen up on benchmarks. It's powered by 855 and has single 18mp back shooter. Size is comparable to current XZ2 Compact

The problem is only single camera on the back, hence it is not the same experience and quality of bigger brother that compact series used to be but just in a smaller form...

They will be a smaller Xperia 1 with the release of Xperia 2. Instead of 6.5 will be 6.1-inch at 21:9.

A con I see already is no front facing speaker. Why have they not start edge ear piece and mic/speaker? Start flexing that edge to edge design. Like in Xperia Z5 Premium.

Think of it this way: The Xperia 1 is the successor of XZ premium and XZ2 premium. Xperia 2 will be the successor of the XZ1,2,3. So we cant get a Xperia 1 compact. But if they plan to make a new flagship compact, it will have to be a Xperia 2 compact and it will have to come at IFA. It is just like the xz1 line up release dates.

XZ premium\ Xperia 1 releases first in the summer and after that at IFA we get the XZ1/Xperia 2 and XZ1 compact/Xperia 2 compact (hopefully).

As a 21:9 with a smaller screen size compared to the Xperia 1 the width will be drastically slimmer.

I wouldn't consider it a Premium phone though, as it'll be missing power plus finger print censor.

Hoping there will be flagship compact at IFA too.
That would perfectly accompany X1 - its bigger brother (sister?).

And you know what. X1 is not too big since 21:9 dimensions are perfect to hold it in hand, no matter on paper it seems 6,5" to be really huge.

But flagship copact should be smaller than 6.1" even if 21:9.

If Sony made a compact flagship with a width less than 65mm, I'd be all over it.

I would like to have really small flagship compact, small enough to take it to gym. Just easy and fast switch the sim tray (sim and sd cards) between regular x1 and compact would be perfect.
