Trying to transfer everything from old Samsung to new Sony Xperia phone as don't want to lose photos and all that's dear to me
Easiest these days is Google backup.
Make shure Google backup is active and synced om your old phone.
Goto settings->accounts->tap you Google mailaccount->tap account sync
Make a separate backup of WhatsApp or whatever chat apps you have from within that/those app(s)
Copy all photos to your PC for extra reassurance.
Goto your new phone.
Set it up with the sae Google mail account and you will be asked to restore.
Advice: Do not restore all apps, just the most needed.
That keeps your phone clean.
Import old chats from within your chat apps.
Be sure to accept backup from Google, better safe than sorry.
Set camera to save photo's on SD card. Consider syncing photos to the cloud.
Write your unlock code somewhere. Every once in a while there are people here on the forum in distress because they forgot their pin or pattern. Don't let that happen to you.
Oh, forgot.
Do not delete anything from your old phone. Keep it as a backup for a while.
Wait for at least a weeek or so if you want to give away or sell that phone to someone else.
Enjoy your new phone!
