sony a7riv with off-camera flash

Hi,

I'm going to use off-camera flash with a Sony a7riv. I've used flash before with my godox V1s but never with a trigger. Looking for some advice on what triggers to get and their compatibility with light brands. I got in touch with Godox and asked if their triggers would work with Profoto lights and they said they only work with Godox. Is it the case that brands tend to be exclusive or do some mix and match. Any help appreciated, thanks!

There are no cross brand compatibility on triggers.

If you are using mixed setup you have 3 options:

1) sell all and buy from one brand only 🫣

2) use old style triggers with optical transmission. Or probably your flash just supports the trigger from the light of the other flash. In that case you can use only in manual mode

3) if all your flash have ttl shoe, buy general purpose trigger such as pixel king pro (actually I don’t know if they are still on the market)

I use trigger and flashes from godox and they work really well in all situations
