IR Blaster Set Up XF87

So I can’t set up my IR Blaster to connect to my Virgin Media (Horizon) box. And I’m looking for some advice…

 

First of all I didn’t set it up when I first set up my TV. When I tried to connect up later I didn’t have an option in the Settings > External Input section. But I do have it appear in my general ‘home’ menu.

 

On my menu I selected > Set-top box control setup

 

Brought me to:

Control your set-top box and AV receiver with TV remote control > Set Top Box control setup

 

Brought me to:

Power on and connect > OK

 

Brought me to:

Place IR Blaster in front of the set-top box > OK

 

Brought me straight to:

An error has occurred. Please try again later

 

I’ve done this multiple times and even factory reset my TV. Even after I reset the TV I didn’t get an option to set it up the IR during the start up process.

 

What is the problem? How do I get this set up?

Hi,

That isn't helpful. There is an error message coming up asking me to try
again later. I've factory reset it now three times and each time I'm not
getting the option to connect it during the set up. That page doesn't
answer these situations.

I have always found the IR Blaster set up very hit and miss, I recall I had to try 3 or 4 times to get it working and "find" my device. No idea why, once it is working its pretty good.

Did you get this figured out? I'm having the exact same problem (with the same model TV). I've opened a ticket with Sony, but perhaps you will reply quicker?!

Has anyone identified a fix for this?  I'm having exactly the same issue with a new Sony TV KD-49XG9005 that I just bought.  Have tried multiple times but it's just giving me an error every time.

What device are you trying to set up? I eventually got my XG9005 to find my Youview box, trial and error and making sure the IR sensors were very close when setting up initially.
