I have a KD-48A9, which is running the latest firmware 6.6152. I find that sometimes after watching a recording made on my Panasonic DMR-BWT800, when I put the Panasonic into standby and then turn off the TV a few seconds later it will turn on again.
I turn it off again and a few seconds later it will turn on.The two external devices connected are the Panasonic recorder mentioned and a Sky+HD box.
I find that if I long press the TV power button and then do a restart, wait for it to come back on and turn off again then it will stay off. This makes me feel it is not a connected device, but rather a software bug on the TV. Has anyone else experienced this?
Check the On timer or the Bravia sync settings: https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/haep1/v1/en/08-08_02.html
Confirmed there are no timers set
We have a Sony KD-49XH9505 and a Humax Aura Freeview recorder which also occasionally turns back on. Also we often find the TV has to be restarted in order for it to access the Humax. We only bought the Humax because the HDD recording facility on the Sony was problematic.
We also have a Sony KD-43XH8505 with which we have persevered with HDD recordings. This also often has to be restarted in order to access the HDD. Another problem is that the details for recorded programmes are often wrong.
I've exchanged many messages with Sony Support about these and similar problems since we bought the two TVs in late 2020. I've spent a lot of time responding to Sony Support and experimenting with settings on the TVs and factory resets. Some of the problems were resolved by a software update but otherwise making and watching Freeview recordings on these Sony Android TVs continues to be a frustrating experience.
I think the Bravia sync settings is the one responsible for turning the TV on by itself! did u check it?
Yes I do have Bravia sync enabled as I do want the TV to turn on when the external Panasonic recorder of Sky+HD box is on. The issue is the TV turns itself on when these are not on.
@ccarmock To avoid this issue, you need to follow the steps here: https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/haep1/v1/en/08-08_02.html?hl=turns+on and make sure that you turn the TV off by just pressing the power button without holding it. Also, sometimes when you have a TV box remote control in the same room it causes the TV to turn on by itself.
Thank you - timers are all set to OFF. I need the Auto TV on to be active as I DO want the TV to come on when a remote device starts. It isn't a remote device causing this though as I can get a round of 4 or 5 times when every time I turn the TV off it will come on - however if I do then HOLD the off button to reboot the TV fully and then turn off after the reboot it will stay off. The only thing that has happened here is a full reboot - which points to a software problem.
No other remotes in the room, and when turning the TV off it's a quick press of the power button not a long hold to reboot - however eventually a full reboot will solve it for a while
