KD49-XF8096 Not Switching ON With Remote or TV Button

Hi,

KD49-XF8096 Bravia TV. Will not switch on from remote or TV Button. If power is disconnected, then reconnected can get TV to respond if remote is used after reconnection of power. Once TV is "awake" remote is fully responsive. When awake, soft reset has been tried, hard reset has been tried and a full factory (data erase) reset has been done. Software update also done and ran diagnostic from help menu returns no error.

When TV is in standby for any length of time it would appear to go back to sleep and remote becomes in effective / non responsive.

Any ideas?????

Hey @Ste600

Are there any external devices connected to this TV?

Have you tried testing the TV without them?

No, already tried after a full reset. An Amazon Fire stick, Sony Sound Bar (connected through HDMI/ARC) and a Sony Blu Ray (connected through HDMI). All now disconnected. No good. The TV can power up by disconnecting power, then reconnecting power with the button on the TV held in when reconnecting, after 30 seconds or so TV restarts. Once it restarts, full control via the remote is possible. Even OFF/ON. BUT, if TV is left OFF/In Standby for an hour or more. Hard Reset is only way to restart. It is as if the TV is going into a deep sleep mode.

@Ste600 okay, did you try to troubleshoot the remote control itself ? Is the power button of the remote works fine after the TV is on?

Hi.

Checking the remote with a phone camera shows it's functioning OK. Battery was changed to be sure that wasn't affecting it.

Once the TV has "woken up" the remote and the TV function correctly. It is just that initial switch on to get it out of standby mode. Neither remote or TV button brings it to life. Disconnecting the power then forcing a hard reset on reconnection works sometimes, but not everytime.
