Hi. I'm looking at getting one of these two tvs does anybody know if there are plans to add VRR in an update like Samsung have with the 2017 models

I think that there is no info. available released by SONY regarding VRR whether it will be supported or not.

Do you know whether Sony usually anounce things early or is it at the last moment when the firmwares go out?

Hi Tony,
I don't think the main features of the update are communicated before the update release unless it's something announced during selling the TV like Dolby Vision that was announced to be introduced to some TVs via a firmware update.

I can't see Sony adding VRR support to HDMI 2.0 TVs unfortunately even though technically something might be achievable.
