sony xperia e problem with the time

when i switch my xperia e on the time is displayed across the centre of the screen. as soon as i unlock it by swiping the time disapears and can only be seen in small numbers at the top of the screen. can anyone help me restore it

Add a clock widget on the home screen.

thanks tried that - it just shows a clock face not the actual time

What do you mean by clock face?You can also add digital watch.
