CMT-MX700NI with iPhone "Network Audio Remote" app

Hi there

Since my iPhone is always with me of course I was very exited about Sonys app "Network Audio Remote".

With this app the so called "Sony HomeShare System" (my CMT-MX700NI together with the network speakers SA-NS300 / 400) would be so much fun since everything can be controlled with the iPhone from wherever you are (balcony, each room).

The app differs between "sources" and "players". As source I managed it to embed Windows Media Player 12 (Windows 7) which uses the same songs I also have in my iTunes library on my NAS. Also the NAS itself (Iomego StorCenter ix2-200) is able to act as a music server and the iPhone app also surprisingly detects the NAS as a source in the app properly.

As "player" in the app only the CMT-MX700NI is available (since I don't have the network speakers yet).

With this "source" and "player" concept listening of streaming music from WMP or directly from the NAS on my CMT-MX700NI works very well.

But I'm really frustrated of another thing which is main issue.

The purpose of this app is to control the CMT-MX700NI, that means I want to switch from Tuner to Internet Radio and Network functions (streaming audio). I just don't believe it - NO WAY TO DO THAT at all. The absolute ONLY thing I can do with this app is to listen streaming audio from WMP and my NAS as mentioned earlier. But for this I wouldn't need the CMT-MX700NI nor this app. I expect and need a "Network Audio Remote" for my Sony stereo - like the name of the app suggests.

IMHO the reason is that the CMT-MX700NI can not be included as "source" in this app but only as "player". If I understand the concept properly the devices that act as "players" are "passive" and only get the music signal from the sources; in order to get control over a device it must be available as "source".

But I'm not sure about that and the only hint from the Sony support was after several useless mails to send me the manual for this app which I already have 🙂

Are there other people out there trying to use this app with CMT-MX700NI? Better results?

Thanks - Wolfgang

Well, finally I was so tired with all the hassle of it and sold all this SONY stuff (the CMT-MX700Ni and the SA-NS300) and got me a SONOS.

I can't believe how easy it can be. One minute for the whole setup, the choice of internet radio stations is a real pleasure, the control of everything is that easy and smooth simply using my iPhone.

Very sad, I always was a SONY fan, but this time it looks like they did not care too much for this product.
