STR-DH540 Home Cinema AV Receiver in Protected Mode

My Receiver went into Protected mode after a decorator moved the unit it was on.  I tried all the suggested solutions I could find and eventually took it to a repair centre.  I have since been told it is not repairable as there are 2 burnt out resistors, 2 burnt out capcitors and 2 burnt out thermistors.  Apparently the resistors and capacitors can be sourced, but the thermistors are unique to this model of receiver and since it has been discontinued by Sony, they can no longer be found.  This system is less than 4 years old, and although I can accept that the model has been discontinued, I am finding it hard to believe that such a basic electronic component is no longer available.

Can anyone give me any advice - are the repair people just trying to fob me off and not do a repair job?

thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

Welcome to the Sony Community.

I would recommend speaking to Sony Support for further advice.

Thanks,
