Adding a USB HDD to KDL-40CX523

What sort of hard drive do i get to work with my bravia KDL-40CX523

must it be a sony one or could i purchase any USB hard drive off the interent?

A western digital my book essentials is highly recommended but any powered standalone HDD should be ok.

that sounds fine, a nice all rounder, there are some 1TB ones which seem popular but all depends on how much recorded stuff you want to keep!,

i believe i read somewhere theres a mixed bag on what the smallest one you can use is but since you opted for the 500gb its a great starting point.
