Firmware update - anyone confirm 3D changes?

I have a KDL-46NX713 - great TV, very happy with it.

I have a DLNA setup using a PC connected to the TV via LAN, streaming content using PS3 Media Server.

I haven't yet purchased the 3D kit as Ive read lots of people complaining that they can't stream/play downloaded  3D content as the 3D menu option to set Side by Side mode, is greyed out.

The latest firmware update PKG5.039EUS-0108 claims to 'Improve the usability of TV for 3D sources'

Can anyone out there confirm what these improvements are? Does it fix the menu issue and enable the option to set Side by Side when streaming downloaded 3D content (movie trailers, youtube etc)?

Thanks in advance

Update: I can confirm that the 3D menu to set side-by-side is active when playing 3D content directly from my PC to the TV via HDMI. I don't know if this is due to the firmware update as I had only ever tried the menu when streaming content via LAN and PS2 Media Server (which still has the side-by-side option unavailable).
