Equipment:
Sony Bravia LCD TV 32V55
Sony DVD Recorder HXD995
Sagem HD Freesat Receiver DS186
Have connected each using HDMI, but can't record to DVD.
The Freesat manual says to use Scarts between the receiver and recorder, but I've used HDMIs between receiver and TV and between TV and recorder.
Programmed the receiver to record and had the DVD on, but nothing recorded.
Any ideas what's wrong please?

Hi mikrome15 and welcome.
The HDMI connection between the DVD Recorder and the TV is one way only - from Recorder to TV. Your Sony HXD995 does not have a HDMI "Input" (only "Output") so it cannot record what is shown on the TV. When it records normally it will use its own inbuilt tuner only.
If you want to record a Freesat program you will need to buy a SCART cable to take the signal from the Freesat box to the DVD Recorder. Alternatively, you can record what you see on TV but you will need a SCART from TV to DVR.

Mny thanks for your succinct and very helpful reply - I have the scarts, so will add these,
