The only FX Hard drive replacement I can find is for the PCG-FX190, which is a slightly older model - but I would expect everything to be in the same place!!

Unfortunately, most 2.5 inch PATA drives are 160GB or more these days but you can still get smaller ones - at a price. Have a look here: -

It may be a good idea to take out your old drive and measure the thickness. Slimline HDDs are about 9.5mm thick and others can be 13mm thick. I think you need a slimline drive - but please check.
Good Luck
Please check your model type - you are quoting an invalid model. Look on the screen surround - it will be something like PCG-FX701. I guess you are quoting the chassis type which may be shared between all sorts of models.
If you confirm the model, I will see if there are any instructions for changing the hard drive.
You will need an IDE drive (ATA but NOT SATA) and there will be a maximum size of 134GB that can be addressed by the 24-bit LBA limit.
Yes you are correct the model number on the front is PCG-FX701.The 134GB you mention is no problem to me, actually I could manage with about 20GB but I suppose these days it is no more expensive to put in a big one. I would appreciate it if you could find some installation instructions and some guidance about specification of the hard drive for the purchase.
Thanks
Charles
:smileyhappy:Also:
What size (3.5 or 2.5 inch) hard drive can I fit to the PCG-FX701 please?
Are there two types of IDA (ATA or SATA)? and if I understand you I must have IDA ATA?
Thanks again for your help

Thank you very much, your information was just what I needed and I have been able to remove the hard drive and define exactly what it is and move on.:smileyhappy:
