Internet speed

I have just purchased a VAIO VPCEC3SOE and was hoping the internet would be much faster.  It isn't.  I am thinking of buying a new wireless modem as I currently have one that came free with sky and I think I can probably get a faster one??.  Does anyone know which type I should purchase to get the fastest possible speed out of my VAIO?!

Your model supports IEEE 802.11b/g/n wireless standards.

802.11b supports up to 54Mbps

802.11g supports up to 108Mbps

802.11n supports up to 150Mbps on your model

So if you are buying a new wireless router, one supporting the Wireless-N standard will give the best network speed.

However, unless you live in a large city, your internet connection is almost certainly slower than all three of these and you will not experience any increase in internet speed.  Most ISP internet speeds are around 8Mbps and any wireless connection can cope with that.
