Out of the box [03.01.14], the fan is loud and intermittent 2/3 minutes off and 4/5 minutes on. This issue happens when using minimal or no programmes including just web browser [Chrome, Firefox, IE].
I have also tested the machine with and without virus protection to rule that out, surely an i7 should handle this anyway [the pentium it replaced could].
I have checked for updates but none are identified as required by the machine/auto check.
The machine is running windows 8.1.
Having spent hours trawling forums the fan issue seems pretty common but Sony have been reluctant to comment/suggest any practical steps.
