PlayStation portal with wired Sony WH-CH720N

I have just bought the Sony WH-CH720N and when I use them to remote play from my phone connected to my via Bluetooth they work perfectly.

When I use them wired to the portal there is this intermittent white noise (I say intermittent, but it’s there 90% of the time) I have tried other wired earphones and these also have a constant white noise there.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is my portal faulty or is this just how 3.5mm is?? Haven’t used it for years.. At my wits end with this whole PlayStation portal sound malarkey.

hello have you tried to adjust the ambient sound level? it is usually set to the highest setting, try to lower it or turn it off

Hello sorry for the reply, yes I have and I even returned them and got a replacement and it’s exactly the same, I used them

Wired on an iPad remote play and they worked absolutely fine, I’m starting to think the issue is the Portal ai tried returning that but it’s not letting me on PlayStation direct
