Yes it charges the Iphone so i guess it charges Ipod too

Regarding the film video it's yes if you have the right cable.

Bear in mind the usb output is probably going to be 0.5Ah, and smartphones require 1Ah, you might find your phone draining faster than the charge, or on a very slow charge. It really may only be suitable for keeping the phone topped up.

I know with my Sony Head Unit 0.5Ah USB output I can slowly charge up (or maintain the charge) on my Dell Streak which normally requires 1Ah, but the Streak will not start on a flat battery when plugged into the USB. It tries to light up, but there is just not enough power on the USB to get it going.
