Sony MDR-ZX770BN & Pairing Issues

Greetings all,

A year or so back I was given, as a present, MDR-ZX770BN headphones. I have listened to music over them numerous times on my smartphone, albeit plugged in, and the sound quality is fantastic. When I first got the headphones I managed to pair them to my smartphone using the one-touch facility.

A couple of nights ago I decided to have a clearout of bluetooth connections that I no longer needed (either those from vehicles I used to drive at work and which work have since disposed of, or from cars that I no longer own) and, in the course of this, accidentally cleared the pairing settings for the MDR-ZX770BN headset. I later realised my error and decided to try and re-pair the headset with the smartphone by using, as with the first time, the one-touch facility. The two refused to pair several times (message came up: "Cannot pair with MDR-ZX770BN") so, in accordance with the instructions given in the online guide - https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/zx770bn/v1/en2/contents/TP0000773510.html - I put the headset back to factory settings to clear the pairing information. I have since tried again numerous times to pair the headset and smartphone but with no success.

Wishing to use the headset with a piece of software on my PC - called "TeamSpeak 3" which I also have installed on my phone - I decided to check if my PC had a bluetooth connection device. It didn't so I went to a branch of a well-known chain and purchased a bluetooth adapter (ASUS USB-BT400 Bluetooth 4.0 USB Adapter) for £12. I again cleared the pairing information on the headphones as per the link above and have now been trying to get my PC - which acknowledges the presence of the bluetooth adapter - to read the headphones and pair with them. The devices found are my TV (a Samsung one) and, if I run the bluetooth on it, my phone. But, once again, not the MDR-ZX770 headset.

The fact that I can listen to music over the headset is very welcome and I can continue to do that by connecting the input wire to the smartphone. But can anyone think of a way by which I might get the MDR-ZX770BN headset to pair with my PC and the smartphone? The whole scenario is getting more than a bit irritating.

PC: HP Pavilion running Windows 8.1

Smartphone: Samsung Galaxy S6 running Android 7.0

I have never taken the headphones out in public and am 100% confident that I have never dropped, or otherwise damaged in any way, the MDR-ZX770BN headset. Suggestions welcome.

Thanks,

Dave
