Sony Xperia X compact poor WIFI

Hello,

My Sony Xperia X compact has very poor performance.

I have tried anything suggested on Sony support forum:

Reboot phone and router.
Phone factory reset.
Reinstalled phone firmware using Xperia Companion.

Other phones same distance are performing well.

Signal is OK with sony, even better than other phones measure with WIFI analyser apps, but download speed is very low,  about 0.2Mbps compared with other phone, 8Mbps. Same distance, same router.

Here you can see my investigation :

Has the wifi download speed on the Xperia Compact always been this slow?

Have you tried it with other routers?

Yes, I have tried with more router, result is similar.

Signal is ok, better than my lenovo tablet, but download speed is very, very slow. It works well only on the 3 m area of router. Please see my problem description the ppt. linked previsiously.

Admiration, you really tested well and you displayed it in a nice way.

How is WiFi speed in safe mode? Did you try that. (a 3rd party app may be messing up)

How is Memory use? (and memory used by apps?)

Did you test it on other WiFi networks?

Let us know, maybe someone comes up with a bright idea.

Hello,

Yes, tested on safe mode as well.

Tested after factory reset,

Tested after fresh install with xperia companion, so no any third party sw instaled.

When I'm close to the router, about 2-3m and signal is higher than -40dB the speed is acceptable.

I'm not really sure but I think this issue came up with the last sw update.

I'm waiting now to see if new update will come to solove the issue, but I'm afraid no more update wil come for Xperia X compact.

No idea how to fix. An stil not sure there is HW or SW issue. As you see in the presentation, the signal level is ok, even higher than Lenovo tablet.

Maybe roll back to nougat.

The phone is still under waranty but not really want to send to the service center. Take long time, and I need the phone for daily use.

As long as the phone is under warranty I would send it for repair. Better safe than sorry afterwards.

There must be someone around who has an old phone for you or maybe you still have your old phoe lying around.

There are even people who are capable to live without a phone for a while.

Seems to be a very refreshing experience.

Any way I wish you good luck whatever you decide.

PS You didn't share with us how your device behaves on other WiFi networks, or did you.
