back button and keypad not working when calling

Hi all,

Today i found a strange issue with my xperia z1 , when i was in call using headphone, back button was not working and i need to search for a contact but the keypad was not showing up . is this a bug, any one have such a experience.

i am usnig android 4.2.2 only..

Settings > apps > all > phone > clear cache > restart your phone > try again

Hi uliwooly ,

Tried your suggestion  but still no change. Mobile is only partially working when calling.

One more thing i am still using android 4.2.2 only , after hearing this many bugs and problems for 4.3.3 , i am afraid to upgrade to 4.3.3.

Let me know your opinion

I'm having the same issue , during a call keyboard won't work so i can't text a message or type a keyword on a search bar for ex. and also i can't navigate in some of the sub-menu , also the funcion "back" doesn't work anymore, calls ends everything turns back normal

also i've just tryed to clear the phone app cache and problem still occurs ,

as soon as i get the phone away from the ear and so the screen turn on again keyboard and other funcions won't work properly ,

i have the latest software

just a quick news:

i've just contacted via xperia care the customer service about this problem, and they just gave me a number to call(by spending money ) ,when i supposed to ask where is the nearest authorized assistance sony mobile , so they can see my problem and see if it's still on warranty ..

big disappointment ,

also i do think it's a software problem not hardware

and also sure we are not the only 2 people having this issue

i will feel ok when i know that this problem is addressed where is supposed to be addressed

nor like the answer i've just received

hoping to have some more visibility

Mine has also been doing it since the last update, though mine is being problematic out of calls. When I'm just trying to look something up on the internet for instance, the keyboard a lot of the time doesn't come up for searching.
Also having a problem with the back button, in that it lights up, as it should when you press it, but doesn't then go back.

In addition to this, since the update before last, my volume buttons have not been working all of the time when watching a video. It works perfectly some of the time (as in when it does work one time you press it, it continues to work every time you press it for that brief period, but then it may not work next time you try to adjust the volume - difficult to explain) so I doubt it's an issue with my phone hardware in particular.

Hi, I have the same problem, when I take a call there is no keypad and no speakerphone button, which is a real problem if you are asked to enter a code for example.

Same here. I have problems with the keyboard coming up, accessing texts and the internet.

the problem is when the proximity sensor is activated stops working .... because if you are using the phone in speaker lets you see the keyboard and make the necessary functions
