Hello sony and Z2 owner / futur-owner.
I try to post here, maybe this time I will be listened.
I have an xperia z2 tablet that suffer from a loose feel of the backside (on the right hand side) plus an awful creaking sound.
It first starts after 1week usage with an "unglued tape" sound then now it emit loud creaking sounds.
I went to my seller which is a Sony Center, they first states that they will not repair it because it's not a functional issues, then after a bit of talk they finally take it to warranty to give it me back 3 weeks later not repaired.
(It's actually the last time I buy something in a SonyCenter! I went there for expertise and service and they were incompetent and unfriendly)
So I contacted Sony Mobile by mail. And I'm not sure they really read my email because they reply me what look like a pre-formatted answer asking me to send my PHONE (seriously?) to a repair center in ANOTHER COUNTRY(travel fees at my charge) threatening me with the risk of having extra fees! (I actually already paid my tablet once I'll not pay more to have it fixed)
I'm actually bored (to be polite) of Sony's reaction.
When you have to deal with warranty people are looking at you like "hoo my god this guy is so picky! The tablet works it's just a little annoying sound".
And this is a real shame! (I bought a High-end tablet not a low cost one)
I just have to open any of your website to see the commercial propaganda about the premium tablet which is the xperia Z2 tablet. I read everywhere "Waterproof and DURABLE.", "Premium","Excellent build quality."... but it's actually not what it feel when you have a creaking tablet in the hand!
So I wanted to know if you build a premium tablet from which you can expect high quality finish and so want to find a solution?
Or you’re just selling a low end creaking tablet with a finish that doesn't worth 500€/£ ?
Is it too much to ask the possibility to drop the tablet at the place I bought it and have it repaired?
I am experencing the same issue with my tablet. It makes you feel you are holding a very cheap device in your hand, not a high end one. I hope you will get a swift answer from Sony about this. And I hooe I won't have to put up with the same bad treatment as you have.
I have had the same problems with the creaking soundsbut I have a case on it pretty much 24/7 so its not too big of a deal. Still would really like it to be fixed but idk where to send it aorund where I live. I even made a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbFVAIgfSr8
Unfortunately I have the exact same problem as you.
No one from Sony seems to be interested.
How the **bleep** can a flagship premium product like this be passed through quality control with such obvious problems!
The more people see me with this tablet the more they are put off the Sony brand and getting Apple iPads instead.
I paid so much yet I feel like I'm using a cheap toy because of the loose plasticy feel with creaking noises.
It's not rocket science to stick the back plastic properly or add some rubber spaces or something like that to avoid the creaking noises! I just don't understand how this can be overlooked.
I am extremely unhappy even though the tablet is quite amazing and thin and light and have all that technology crammed into it.
If I dont have any joy getting it replaced, it will be the last sony product I will buy and encourage others not to buy sony products again.
Try using a different argument to get it replaced; does your touch screen behave quirky? Does it fail to register a touch every now and then? Does pinch zooming seem jumpy? If so, demonstrate it to the sony people with a multi touch testing app and try and get it replaced for that reason in top of your other complaints.
Thank you for the suggestion, yes it does suffer from the touch screen problems (pinch zoom doesn't always work and touch is not responsive) even after the update and sound delay with certain apps, but I thought this was a software issue with all Xperia Z2's ?
The touchscreen issue is due to flawed grounding (hardware based). Chances are good that the touch responsiveness is fine when holding the tablet in your hands.
I also talk to the seller about the touchscreen issues.
He reply me something like "It's normal, all devices have its triggering sensitivity."
It seems that this genius have answer to everything...
If I don't have a solution it will be my last sony too.
I already had a x10 mini pro with software support dropped after 2month and an Xperia arc with poor quality housing that crack all around the screen. I gave another chance to sony, expecting that the new branding (Sony Erricson) may bring better product but it seems that I was wrong.
I have this problem too. Another problem I noticed by immersing under water when from top right corner and from mic comes small bubbles., XT Z2 is my last Sony. It is a shame for such premium product
I have the same problem. Brought the tablet to the warranty service. Waiting now. But in addition I've noticed, while surfing in the web at night, a very high pitched sound while opening right upper panel or browsing google play or something like that. This sound is like a coil whine and located at top right corner. And in the night, when the tablet lies in front of my face on the bed, I hear this sound very clear. That's the problem too and it has to be resolved, or for what had I paid?? And yes, the common problems are discussed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735460 .
