I found no obvious way to export a single message, or conversation, or all conversations, to a text file.
Does anyone know of a way ?
thanks in advance !

... also, I'm wondering why you suggested a 3rdparty app, while Sony does the same with this :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonymobile.xperiatransfer
and this :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonymobile.xperiatransfermobile
... ?
cheers
Xperia Transfer is a tool to transfer your data to another phone. They will not let you save your messages as a text file in your PC.
There are alot of different softwares that lets you manage SMS from your PC, also cloud based.
The reason i suggested MyPhoneExplorer is because i know that it can export to .txt which you asked for. But there are probably other softwares that can do that as well.
Makes sense.
my reference to cloud was a joke : I want local storage in txt format.
Thanks for everything.
cheers
OK, I've tried MyPhoneExplorer with :
- 2 different USB ports
- 2 different USB cables (original + backup)
- USB debugging on/off
- USB mode MTP/MSC
No way to get it working : "no device detected on USB port"
Sony Xperia Transfer works fine
this is a problem of the app, not Sony's.
I'm uninstalling this useless app from phone AND computer.

Sorry to hear that it didn't work for you. I tested it here with a M2 before suggesting it and it worked fine for me.
Under File -> Settings -> Connection i have "Phone with Google Android-OS" and "USB cable" selected but perhaps you could try WiFi or bluetooth and see if that helps?
If that doesn't help you could try other apps that lets you manage messages from a PC like AirDroid but i'm not sure if it can export messages and to what format.
For anyone who cares :
just installed & tried : SMS to Text -
it does just that, quick and easy
cheers
Glad to hear that you found a solution and thanks for the tip!
