Sony Xperia z1 slow wifi

When I connect to my netgear dgnd3700 on both 2.4g and 5.0g the speed is near 30mbps then very shortly after drops to 2mbps....It sticks at 2mbps and wont go any higher. The WiFi strength is strong and the same happens across all WiFi channels....my Samsung note 10.1 2014 and laptop both show 30mbps......I've recently upgraded to KitKat with the latest patch

Very frustrating!!!!!! Has anyone else had this problem or know of a solution????

Are you on a 4G network - Make sure that mobile data is switched off just incase your mobile data is been used

Tries the speed test with mobile data switched off...

I'm getting 2mbps download but 10mbps upload.

I'm using the speed test.net app....

Update: I tried booting the phone in safe mode....and still the same issue so it is not any 3rd party apps causing the problem.

Also running the speed test with mobile data switched off gives the same issue.

So with fibre broadband I'm only getting 2mbps down...even when stood next to the router.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.....

Hi i am having the same problem. on a 100mbps connection which is working fine as my desktop pc which is upstairs and acroos the house from the router gets 100mbps over wifi but the z1 will cap it at between 4-5mbps download. upload is fine and same as desktop. have you managed to fix your problem or is there something i can change to fix it?

I also have the same problem. I have a pocket wifi that is LTE. other device gets a very good speed and signal, but my z1 is very slow. It connects but its just very very slow. I am downloading a movie and it caps the download speed. Its running between 10-15kbps only. Other devices that are conmected can get more than that. In fact, they can get up to 5mbps. What is the problem? Can someone please help me with this? Thank you.
