I had a W760a that I got when I started my new plan with AT&T. I've had it for 1 1/2 yrs, but after crashing several times and finally the screen died, I decided to get a new one. Since AT&T doesn't sell them directly anymore, I got a W760i off the internet and it came directly from Hong Kong. Everything works great other than when I go to the internet, it is displayed in chinese characters. I've emailed the company I bought it from and they had me do a master reset, but that didn't fix it. I'm now waiting for a second reply as to what to do next, but wondered if anyone else has had this problem and how to solve it. Thanks.
I was in the same situation as you about 30 days ago. There is no solution from either the AT&T or SE side.
If you do get that page as your default home page, just hit Options and have Media Net as one of your
bookmarks or a favorited page. You can also set up one of your fast link/hot buttons to go to the Media
Net homepage versus the address book (for example)... as the 760i will let you go a few selections past
where the 760a would. I also bought a 760i from that company in Hong Kong... and mine just died completely
last night. I think it might have to do with software updates, and the problems communicating it through the
AT&T side, but I do not know yet. Good luck! Another option for your internet 'problem', is just downloading
Opera mini, accessing it through your applications, and doing all of your surfing that way. (less hassle, and full pages)
I HAVE A QUESTION DID YOU HAVE A PROBLEM SENDING AND RECEIVING PICTURE? IF SO HOW DID U FIX IT?
Make sure all your phone settings are set to Media Net (U.S. version), and not the
default one that is in there (from HK). I also called the S-E customer service folks
told them the problem, and they sent me an update... but I am not sure what it actually
did for me. I am able to send photos to people's phones, but not all of them can receive
the attachment(photo). It definitely will not attach the photo/video to an email address,
but I believe we just need to contact AT&T to update the default email address (for the phone)
to what we had for the W760A. The 760i is definitely a better phone, but at&t is fighting it
electronically on a daily basis. (sim card goes out on a daily basis, etc.) Im looking to
either get another S-E (through whatever carrier), or switch entirely. Good luck!
Go to the Sony Ericsson website. There is a section on there that will allow you to download the software required to send and receive MMS messages. They send the settings directly to your phone, give you a password to enter into your phone and then you can send and open texts with pictures. BTW, the browser language issue was fixed easily. Turns out the phone was set to automatically go to a default chinese website when the browser was opened. As soon as I switch webpages everything was in english
