I just recently got myself what was thought to be for myself the very best phone available. Only to find out that after bringing it into the pool, it is waterproof. Thats good. But it puzzles me when it can be completely submerged and take no water damage and instead takes water damage when simply rinsing it under the tap. Brought it to the Sony Service centre. Theyre examining it now. Status is now under repair. Its alright to be repaired but it would be better for it to be replaced. You see, i dont want to bring back home a "Defective" unit. Again, like everyone, we Xperia Z1 user's arent brainless. I ensured that the flaps were closed. The water indicator is now red. I live in Malaysia. Im thinking of taking this to court for legal actions. Nonetheless, i still want an Xperia Z1 despite all this tragic events. Im only a 17 year old kid that loves tech. for me to pay Rm2399 takes me almost four months of my pay. This is not fair for me.
Sorry to hear that, I hope you get your phone repaired, but this forum is for users to help each other, do let us know the outcome once you get it back. Although the Xperia Z1 it is water proof it is only
*** In compliance with IP55 and IP58, Xperia™ Z1 is protected against the ingress of dust and is waterproof. Provided that all ports and covers are firmly closed, the phone is (i) protected against low pressure jets of water from all practicable directions in compliance with IP 55; and/or (ii) can be kept under 1.50 metre of freshwater for up to 30 minutes in compliance with IP 58.
But is there any form for me to fill up to request for a new unit? becasue im afraid that if at all it does get repaired, once i have the guts to dunk it in water again, the water will leak in again... will it help if i cover the headphone jack and speaker grill with cellophane tape? the big one, the one that stick more. Not the small one. ill even put it around the flaps. Will showing proof of flaps closed help the next time i dunk it underwater? like a video of it underwater, ofcourse the camera taking the video will be above water levels.
Its hard to tell were the water leaked in, perhaps one of the flaps/covers either wasn't properly closed OR it has defective seals, which could happen
No Offence bro. But do you honestly think that people would be such a costly device and bring it underwater without double checking on the essentials? Just saying.
I'm not pointing fingers, just saying that some users have a hard time closing the covers properly, if you read above you can see that I did point out 2 options, it could be that there's an issue withe the seals, I hope is the later
I understand. Hopefully the service centre does too. Thank you for your support!
Anytime, keep us updated
It would be wise to visit a sony service for a quick check:
