Xperia Z3 (D6616) Black\Blue Colored Screen and cannot factory reset

Hello All,

While playing a game on my phone yesterday the screen flashed/blinked for a moment, then turned and remained a blackish blue color. While in this state nothing on the phone was functional, I could hold the power button until I was blue in the face and it wouldn't power off the device. At this point I opened the cover for the micro SD card and SIM card and pressed the yellow power off button. After holding down the yellow off button for several seconds and feeling the three vibrations I set the phone down and left it for 5 minutes. When I powered device backup it had the same black blue screen. I repeated these steps several times all with the same outcome. At this point I'm pretty frustrated and attempted to boot into recovery to no avail, finally deciding to simply do a factory reset which didn't work either. Neither Sony or T-Mobile were of any help.

This morning I pressed the power button and the device booted normally but the kicker is that as soon as the phone goes to sleep or you make a phone call the screen goes back to the black blue color and the phone must sit for 15 to 20 minutes before it can be powered back on.

The phone is under warranty and t-mobile has agreed to send me out a replacement device but I would still like to erase all my personal information off of the current handset, any help would be much appreciated.

Phone Model: D6616

Manufactured: 10/2014

Bought: 12/24/2014

Experience level: Moderate

I've probably had 25 Android phones since I bought my first N1 in 2010 including several Play Edition phones and I've never experienced a situation like this where I couldn't even perform a factory reset.

I finally managed to get the phone to complete a factory reset.

It's the strangest thing, after the factory reset the phone operates perfectly until I let it go to sleep or hit the power button to turn the display off then it's back to the blackish blue screen. I've never had anything like this happens if only forI've never had anything like this happen to a phone before.

Thanks again for your assistance.
