Xperia Backup & Recover is stuck

I'm having issues with my backups. I want to do a manual backup using Xperia Backup & Recover using my Google Account but it freezes at Signing in pop-up window. If I change to save it in a USB device (a Type-C USB memory) the progress keeps stuck at 0%. I'm using the last update released with December patch.

I can confirm this issue, I will try to report/escalate it but until it gets solved the way to temporarily solve it is clear the Xperia Backup and Restore app data (settings >apps and notifications >all apps >show system >Backup and Restore >Storage >Clear data) and make the login from start. Nevertheless If you leave the app and close it, when returning some hours later the problem returns.

Like you said, I was able to make a manual backup using the app doing it as your instructions. Today I tried to do another manual backup and keep "Signing in...".
