Just recieved a NEW Sony Xperia 10 Plus from Amazon; straight out of the box.
Tried turning it on... Nothing.
Held the power button for longer... Nothing.
Held power and volume buttons... Nothing.
Waited for it to charge fully and hold power button... Nothing.
I did manage to get it on (I DON'T KNOW HOW). did a few things AND THEN STUPIDLY TURNED IT OFF. NOW I'M BACK TO SQUARE ONE.
I've looked at the companion app and tried the software reset but couldn't get it to work, my computer doesn't see it and when holding buttons I get no vibrations of any kind. I get no icons when its charging as well.
All I have is either a green dot at the top of the phone or a red -> orange dot when holding the power and volume up buttons when usb is connected.
I'm getting tired/annoyed trying to get it to work
am I doing wrong or is up with this phone?
Hi @Matt2396, let me see if I can help out here!
You mentioned that you tried pressing and holding the power button and the volume buttons, did you press volume-up or volume down? In order to force a start of the phone, you will need to press and hold the power button and volume up simultaneously for about 10-15 seconds or until the phone produces a slight vibration.
If a force start do not manage to start the phone up, I would suggest that you try to do a two minute restart of the device. In order to do this on your Xperia 10, press and hold down both the volume up key and the power key for 120 seconds, ignoring any vibrations.
If none of these measures manage to start the phone up, I would suggest that you try to repair the software using Xperia Companion and a computer.
You mentioned that Xperia Companion did not see the device. This is due to the fact that the phone is not turned on, you can however still repair the software on the phone. Simply click on Software repair in Xperia companion and mark the checkbox in the bottom left corner named "My device cannot be detected or started, or is a Smartwatch 3".
Try these measures and let me know how it goes!
I've tried literally held every button combination possible to try to get it to turn on again.
Trying again just now has yielded no results. You mention that I should be feeling vibrations but still have not felt any whilst holding the buttons at any point.
And I've held the volume down button for 5 minutes waiting for the companion app to respond for nothing to happen. (and yes I marked it as unreadable by the PC).
Any other suggestions?
Thank you for the quick reply!
In that case I am afraid that you may have received a faulty device. My best advice is to get in contact with your local support team for further instructions, this due to the fact that service routines, warranty and consumer laws may vary depending on market.
I am sorry for the inconvenience, but i hope that helped!
I did the latest software update yesterday. Today, with a full charge, my phone went into sudden death mode and will not turn on, can't force power up, and won't respond to the Xpedia "power up" procedure (disconnected from pc/hold volume down while connecting to PC).
This phone and my previous XA ultra have both been nothing but constant problems. Why does Sony continue to produce such garbage???
