So I'm starting this with hopes that it will come through to Sony software programers...
Worst bug in Android Oreo is in native Video app.
Upon fresh restart of TV Video app is working fine and playing all media from external drives but when you change sound output to external speakers everything stops and it wont play any type of file anymore...even chrashes TV to another restart...

I am just a regular customer, however I'll gladly pass this on to my Sony contact to see what can be done.

Great thanks mate we would really appreciate it!
I have the 55XF9005 and ever since after the Oreo update it stopped sending 5.1 DD or DTS signal to the Yamaha processor. It was perfectly ok before. Connected by optical (toshlink).
Video application was ok after installation, but after a while started delays in opening an mkv / avi file, not opening at all or stuttering in avi. Try to clear internal cache. From storage / internal space / cache / clear. Did not really do anything, only a factory reset fixed it. Till it occured again. I am not sure it is attributable to external speakers, but it is highly possible.
Fortunately, a very known video player 3rd party program works perfectly well. But this needs to be fixed pretty soon.
Hi Panlask,
Have you tried performing a soft reset as explained here: https://bit.ly/2DVxVVV ? Also, how long did the TV remain fine before the issue occurred again, after the factory reset?

Local Sony service told me there are identified issues with Oreo and should just wait for new update (patch).
There are among others incompatibilities with Yamaha amplifiers/receivers.
I have seen other major issues that needs to be fixed, like stock video player getting so stuck when setting sound to external sound system, that plain TV has no sound, soft reset gets stuck and you need to pull the plug!

Let's hope they push bug squashing update sooner rather than later...
My main problem is stock Video app it's unusable right now...
Other video players can't send 5.1 sound to my Logitech Z-5500 😞
I put the update and things are like that:
So, this is a partial solution to the previous update issues.
Still doesn't play DTS HD Master Audio...
But regular DTS works fine...
Ah, yes. I wouldn't tell about that.
Since I connect through Optical and have only DD / DTS decoding.

I am connected to sound system with optical too...but on a file usualy 4K blu ray rip it comes with DTS HD Master Audio track and TV decodes it to regular DTS or it just fails to read that audio track...
It was fine on Nougat...
But fortunately those files also have reserve Dolby Digital audio track so its easy to switch to that one...
DTS-HD mandates a DTS compatible core which the TV is capable of extracting for transmission over ARC or S/PDIF. ENCODING_DTS_HD API is broken with current BRAVIA firmware though. Bitstream reproducibly drops out after some seconds. Same is true for DTS-HD MA and HRA.
