Problem with Bluetooth Connection

Good Morning,

I was wondering if anybody had a solution for the following problem.

 

Following a recent automatic update of the bluetooth drivers the connection between my laptop and mouse has become unstable. It can work at times but then mid-use it stops. When I navigate to the "Manage Bluetooth devices" screen using the touchpad, as soon as the lil blue dots pulse along the bottom of the "Your PC is searching for..." dialogue the bluetooth mouse miraculously starts to work again!

 

Any suggestions as to what is/has happened and what I may do about it?

 

Laptop: Sony Vaio SVT1312B4E

Mouse: Dell/BT travel mouse (with new batteries)

OS: Windows 8.1
