I want to reinsall the OS from the recovery partition on my Vaio Duo 13 as it's running Windows 8.1 now. but the recovery process both within Windows and from the BIOS menu claims that the installation files are missing and asks me to insert a disk. I tried inserting a Windows 8 installation USB but nothing happened.
How do I go about reinstalling it now?
Also, has Sony gotten anywhere with the Connected standby + Hyper V issue?
(posted it again because this is a hybrid - both PC + Tablet)
No answer for SO LONG, really?
Hi JayKannan.
Have you installed all the available updates for your Vaio? In particular the "Vaio Care Recovery Updater"?
You don't say exactly which model you have but you can find this update under 'Latest Downloads' - 'Windows 8'. Here is the link to the downloads page for the SVD1321M2EB: -

Sony have put this in 'Latest Downloads' -> Windows 8 and not under Windows 8.1 which may have caused confusion.

No, I've installed everything. it fails even in Assist mode. when I choose recover at the point where ti begins to reinstall windows, i'm supposed to get the keybaord option or whatever and there it says source files are missing. I've never touched the recovery partition, why would it say this? the official answer I got was to re-order the recovery discs - why should I do that and pay more for somethign that should already be working in the first place?
