Please, help us !
Mine is Xperia™ Dual. After an update to Oreo my phone battery gets drain quickly. I am not the only one having this issue. Please help fix, hope this concens matters to you. Thanks.
Hi,
which Xperia model do you have ?
Regards
Alin
Hi Alin,
Thanks for the response.
I have the Xperia™ X Dual (F5122). Current software version 34.4.A.2.50
I had my phone running on for "stamina" mode set to "always ON" and almost zero 0% brightness.
Also, the double-tap to wake feature seems not so smooth, since I have to tap multiple times to get it wake. However, the double-tap to sleep seems so fine.
Hoping to fix this.
Thanks and regards,
Ahr
Hi Sony Dev's,
Any update on this concern? Please help. How can I use this phone if battery gets drain quickly.
Is there a big difference now with Oreo in contrast to Nougat ?
Mine is on the same levels.
There are few things to have in mind :
-If there was an OTA upgrade, factory reset might help you out.
-Battery issues are almost hardest to troubleshoot due to so many variables involved.(user installed apps, signal strength, clean install or not etc.,defective battery)
If there was a highly spread issue with higher drain, I'm quite sure Sony would have patched it, but if you consider above points and that quite a lot of us don't have big issues, it's understandable that it's not an easy fix from their side. If there's a thing to fix.
Also to bear in mind :
-(from my perspective at least) X was never a battery champion. Sure, it wasn't/isn't bad, but that's about it.
-From your screens I can't tell you are having that much of a drain
I'd recommend :
-install GSAM battery monitor and grant additional permissions via adb
-if easy to handle , preform a factory reset (if you made an OTA update to Oreo)
- after that, try to compare status on Nougat and on current fw version
-check your WIFI/network signal, if it's constantly searching for signal == lose battery
-consider using Xperia Actions or Tasker to for example : turn sync off overnight, turn wifi off, use Xperia actions to optimize battery for night
I hope you find some interesting details so you can pinpoint the problem.
Also, how old is your phone ? Batteries do lose capacity over time, and it also depends on stuff extra hot or cold climate etc.
Hope you nail it Best of luck
Hi Schetz,
Really appreciate the reply. However, considering that my phone is new, just bought it a month back. Also, I had this issue going since it is still running Nougat, and stamina mode (always on) w/ no installed apps yet. I had this checked w/ Sony service and the technician said the battery is okay. Technician also performed the factory default on their end during the service. Prior to that I had already updated the OS version to latest version hoping it would fix the problem. And tried to restore to factory settings successfully thru Xperia companion. Really hoping for a solution on the next update.

Sorry i can't help, but i wanted you to know i have the same battery drain problem after the Oreo update. I never had any battery issues before, i haven't changed or added any settings or app apart from the update. Sony suggested a reset via companion app but that's not the issue, the issue is a software one, something in the update. I've also lost the use of my contacts app.
Same thing as I was guessing.. It has something to do on a software. I hope this concern will be taken by SONY Devs. Thank you for sharing.
