Keys bouncing on 17.1.1.A.0.402 / double letters

Hi!

After few days of using this FW I've noticed that from time to time (let's say one word every four sentences) I get a double letter. Even if I touch a letter once my tablet puts a second in a row.

It didn't happen on. 36 FW. I don't have this problem on my Z1. It appeared after this update.

Also scrolling is suboptimal. It lacks a bit of natural inertia.

Anyone else noticed it?

I haven't experienced this myself so far, but I think it might be that they increased the touch screen sensitivity in .402, to compensate for the reported touchscreen insensitivity issues on a number of devices, and this might have made the touch screen a tad too sensitive on devices that didn't have any insensitivity issues.

Hi!

My tablet did have sensitivity issues.

The case is more complicated that it may look for untrained eye. I have enabled touch tracking in developer options. It draws touch patterns on the screen and also displays diagnostic information on the top of the screen. There are XY positions along with pressure detection.

When idle it shows about. 29. When touched with the finger it varies between .49 and 1. Generally every slightest touch is detected correctly. But for some reason they are not interpreted correctly by underlying software as continuous touch. Sometimes there is a brake which results with double stroke on keyboard or unplanned click in chrome.

And more over. When touch is detected by the screen (pressure over .6, position correctly drawn on the screen) applications not always respond to it. Then you feel like the touch was not detected by digitiser when in fact it is detected but ignored by the higher level software.

I've noticed the effect of this aswell, and it seems to become more apparent the longer the tablet has been running without restarting. After restarting the tablet (as in powering it off and on again), it will work fine for two or three days, and then the software starts to ignore touches again.

I have the double letter problem with my xperia z2. However, this happens frequently with the letters/characters on the upper raw of the qwerty keyboard and when the phone is held in upright position (in portrait mode).  The problem is less perceived when the screen is rotated in horizontal position (landscape mode). As anyone has a fix for this?

Try to enter Diagnostics and check your touch screen. Maybe there are some kind of faults within.

Next try to clear application data for Xperia keyboard. If it doesn't help you can try to backup your phone and then try to perform system restore.

If nothing helps contact Xperia care, explain your problem, inform about every action you have taken to verify the issue and arrange inspection of your device by service centre or follow other recommendations from Xperia Care operator for your region/country.
