I have had my Z3 compact for about 3 months. I took it in to a pool for a few minutes last week and it stopped working. Screen started flickering, went black and didn't come back on. Ports were all closed. I took it to an EE shop and they thought one of the ports was faulty and that's how the water got in. Has anybody had any similar problems? Or does anyone know if Sony will replace the phone free of charge? Obviously water damage voids the warranty (which is ridiculous for a "waterproof" phone) but it was a defect that was the cause of the water damage. I've sent it off to the repair centre, still waiting to hear back.
Has anyone sent their phone away because of water damage?
Thanks.
Make sure to request a "vacuum test", if there are cracks or the flaps are faulty that could be the issue.
