T9 on X10

I would like to know if the T9 (Text on 9 key) system can be used on X10.

I understand Full qwerty keyboard is available but I personally prefer the T9 system.

Would appreciate it if anyone could help!

Tnx in advance!

Hey there Suze

Thank you so much again!

I downloaded it directly onto my phone... that is how non-techy I am Slightly_frowning_Face Dizzy_Face

I have managed to have it on my X10 now but... the keyboard does not spread onto the screen enough to type conveniently (as attached). I have tried changing the "key width" & "key heights" but no success... Perhaps this is due to the fact that the HTC IME is for HTC phones?

I will continue searching Slightly_smiling_Face

Thanks!

Hey there Jrdwn,

Thank you so much for your response.

I have tried different ways for T9 but have settled for (EvenBetter) NumberPad Keyboard for now by paying some money!

For now I have not tried Swype but this is for qwerty keyboards only, isn't it? Then I prefer to stick with T9 but thanks anyway. As swype seems to be the new thing lately, maybe who knows in the future Slightly_smiling_Face

Thanks again!

Glad you've found a way that suits you!

I am tempted to try out the Swype thing recommended by jrdwn, but have got used to the Android keyboard now, and old men, like old dogs, find it rather difficult to learn new tricks.  It's a good thing the phone is so easily adapted to suit our different needs...

Oooooo er!  Don't know what happened there then.  Did you down load the Hi Res version 27? How very odd!

Anyway, I'm glad you have found something that suits you (eventually despite me leading you up the garden path so to speak!).

Happy texting!

I'll add the following link for anyone else who wants to give the unskinned version a go... its a step by step guide that I followed and thought I had lost but found it in my bookmark folder.....

Sorry I didn't find it again in time for you keitash, might have made things less confusing.

Hey again Suze!

Thanks for the new link with instructions!

It works perfectly now... quite embarrassingly, I did use "low resolution" as it said Android 1.6 or above and assumed that "high resolution was for Eclair or Froyo... haha Winking_Face

Well it works now, but there are two things that I don't particularly fancy about the HTC, which are - as far as I am concerned - there is no key to press "next" to go to the next predicted word (instead have to select from the list) and it does not recognise the general "user dictionary in Android (instead uses its own separate dictionary)...

What I personally don't fancy about the paid version ((EvenBetter) NumberPad Keyboard) is the resolution of the keys and the boring design. For the rest as for usability, I can't  complain but have yet to choose out of the two Slightly_smiling_Face

And EVERYONE who assisted me, well thanks a million again!!!
