Water Damage to Xperia Z1. Under Repair????

I just recently got myself what was thought to be for myself the very best phone available. Only to find out that after bringing it into the pool, it is waterproof. Thats good. But it puzzles me when it can be completely submerged and take no water damage and instead takes water damage when simply rinsing it under the tap. Brought it to the Sony Service centre. Theyre examining it now. Status is now under repair. Its alright to be repaired but it would be better for it to be replaced. You see, i dont want to bring back home a "Defective" unit. Again, like everyone, we Xperia Z1 user's arent brainless. I ensured that the flaps were closed. The water indicator is now red. I live in Malaysia. Im thinking of taking this to court for legal actions. Nonetheless, i still want an Xperia Z1 despite all this tragic events. Im only a 17 year old kid that loves tech. for me to pay Rm2399 takes me almost four months of my pay. This is not fair for me.

I used my z1 to take a pix under water, I did not last 1 minute inside d pool.. when I got out. I noticed my phone screen going on and off.. And den I turned it off.. It kept turning itself on and off. I took it for repair and Sony said I void the warranty and claimed I left the flaps open.. Sony made me look stupid, how will I want to use such expensive device without making sure and double checking that all flaps were closed? I did check over n over n over again b4 getting in the pool.. U trusted the phone and bragged about it.. But Sony just ended up making me the biggest fool.. And yet with their claims making me look even more speechless.. N giving me an estimated cost of $500 to fix it... I'm so disappointed in Sony mobile.. Xperia z1 is a big failure!!!!

Hi, I can't believe what I'm reading.

I've had my sony xperia z1 compact since February. Paid my best £450 to buy it off the sony website. I simply love the device, and the waterproof is the best bonus a device could have, which I didn't plan to have, but it happened to be there. So I took some showers with the phone, and took it recently to the swimming pool, twice, to take photos of my newborn diving. Brilliant pictures came out! but the second time, the same thing happened to my phone, despite checking the ports are all sealed properly. The screen started flickering and then switched off. I sent the unit for repair explaining the situation. On the repair website it says 'product with technician'. I hope this is a good sign, that sony is not going to blame me for the faulty product and the phone is under repair already. But like other users, even if they do fix it, how can i ever trust that the phone will survive another dunk in the water??

Any advice from anyone?

I got a problem too about the rear glass, there is a gap in 4 corners of the rear glass on my xperia z1, i think it's because my phone got overheat one time. But the technician in my country ( Indonesia ) said to me that it's fine, because there is a rubber that will block water got inside of the phone, after that when i arrived at home i use the phone with me in my bathub, and it's fine, i watch the water just pass the gap. what i don't like about this phone that this phone is so weak, i dropped the phone from my bed and got dropped to the side of the phone, and leave 4 dent marks, the drop is only about 10cm from my bed, then the front glass is dent too which i don't know why it happened

Just saw how many people have viewed this and wow that's a lot! Does this mean something? Sony, Xperia is an exaggerated product for I have this phone also and we'll... I told friends and family not to buy it. Did they listen? No, no they didn't but they wished they did because one of my friends, Aric, bought the phone and in the first week the sound was messed up. I checked the phone and it was working but the water damage flap inside was red. My phone was in the pool for about 1 minute and it turned off completely. It makes noises for notifications but the screen won't show. Sony, never ever exaggerate a product please! If you can't see we want phones that live up to expectations. Did you advertise this as waterproof? Because according to about 10,000 people on one likes this fake advertisement. Yes water damage. **bleep** aaa lot.

Startrish, the headset hole is supposed to be waterproofed so ok. No flap required.
